What's going on in our world?

As our departure draws nearer (46 days!) the pressure is turning up. Yesterday we met for a couple of hours to discuss lesson plans for this summer. And let me tell you, we have some amazing ideas for these kids to experience! They will get to enjoy so many new experiences. Some of them are all fun and games, like a water balloon fight for David and Goliath. And some are more reflective, like washing each others feet and taking communion.
With all of these plans comes the realization that this is happening, NOW! We are really buying this stuff, packing it and carrying it to the other side of the planet. We hope that these things, these activities and crafts, will help the kids get to know the Bible and Jesus Christ. The world they live in is so isolated in so many ways. Watching their eyes grow large as they discover each new thing shows us God working in their lives.
With only 46 days remaining before we take off, we are also very aware of where our team is financially. We are just now reaching 50% of our funds. I would like to ask you to help us now in this time of need. Every single penny helps us get there so whatever you can afford makes a huge difference! If everyone reading the blog could do an online donation of just $25 we could be at our goal in no time.
Thank you all so much for your love, support and prayers!

RETREAT!!!

Best Weekend Ever!

God has truly blessed every single person on this team. This weekend we were able to get together, share our testimonies, have some fun, eat some oreos, oh, and get a little work done too!

We met up Friday a retreat center here in Atlanta(yes, Jesus was on the door), and after some rather questionable cafeteria food (remenisant of elementary school mystery meat) had some bonding time. I feel like I know so much more about all of these amazing people that God has chosen for this journey. I feel so fortunate to be their leader. We are going to do amazing things!

As the evening wore on there were some rumbling tummies so we set out for a late night junk food run. Steve headed off to bed when we got back and the five of us girls who will be in the camp all three weeks had some good old fashioned girl talk over Oreos.

Saturday we had some fun planning what we'll be doing in the camp. Then we needed a break so we headed out to the woods. After a few winding trail, one suspension bridge and a bunch of close calls with poison ivy, we headed back in.

Look at us, you know it's going to be a great summer.

Please keep us in your prayers. We are still in great need of financial support. You can donate online by clicking the link to the right. All donations are tax deductible and every little bit helps. $20 goes farther than you think!
